Canadian Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fisheries Commission

The Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fisheries Commission (CCRIFC) is a collaborative group of First Nation tribes in Canada committed t the restoration and conservation of fish and the aquatic ecosystems upon which the depend in the upper Columbia River Basin. The group was formed in 1993 by the Okanagan, Ktunaxa and Swecwepemc nations (Ktunaxa Nation, Annual Report, 2012). The CCRIFC’s recent focus has been the restoration of historic runs of the Sockeye Salmon in the Okanagan River in British Columbia, Canada (Bankes and Cosens, 2012).
