The Sea of Galilee (also called "Kinneret" or "Tiberias") is a large lake located in the Northeast of Israel, near the Jordanian and Syrian borders. The lake is the only major standing body of Freshwater in the Jordan River Basin, and is an important reservoir for water storage for both Israel and Jordan.

The lake, which has a surface area of approximately 170 km2 and holds approximately 4,000 MCM of water at a given time.[1]
